Press Release from Council Member Rodriguez

April 23, 2010 New York, NY – Today, Council Member Rodriguez celebrated the announcement that the Sergeant Riyan Tejada Post Office would stay open and will not close this month, as previously announced.
“This Post Office has a symbolic meaning for the community, as it is named after the first Dominican officer on active duty in Iraq, and it is also frequently used and depended upon in the community. Closing this post office was not an option. Thanks to the work of Congressman Rangel and the U.S. Postal Service, local residents will continue to get the services that they deserve.” said Council Member Rodriguez.
Since last summer, Councilman Rodriguez, other Northern Manhattan elected officials, and dedicated members of the community have been fighting to keep open the Post Office on W. 180th Street.
